Emma Louise moved to London in 2003 from Worcester to study a BA (Hons) in Photography and Digital Imaging with New Media Journalism at Thames Valley University. She was inspired to do the course after working as a photographic assistant in an advertising studio. Her interest in photography has been there since the age of ten, but working in a photographic environment gave her the confidence to take the plunge and study photography full time. Emma Louise is diverse in her creative approach to photography and able to adapt to varying situations using a mixture of formats and lighting techniques, with her preference being medium format tungsten lighting. Emma Louise is interested in photographing objects and scenes, which make the viewer question reality and what is real and this is achieved by taking what we see everyday and placing it in unusual situations. Her inspiration comes from photographers such as Gregory Crewdson and Tom Hunter, and their approach can be noted in Emma’s most recent exhibition at the Truman Brewery called ‘No Time to Say Goodbye’.
